Psalm 100

Like sheep, we are prone to wander, sometimes ending up in dangerous places as we seek out the apparently greener grass beyond our pasture. In Psalm 100, the psalmist knows that a good medicine for our wandering hearts is wondering. What helps keep us on the straight and narrow path is to be in wonder of who God is and all he does for us as our Good Shepherd. Psalm 100 is a psalm of thanksgiving, and it is true that thanksgiving is good medicine for our souls.

Lord, what do we have that hasn't come from you? You are the Maker of heaven and earth. Everything we enjoy is the work of your hands. You are our Redeemer, Savior, and Friend. The forgiveness, love, and fellowship we have with you comes completely by your amazing grace. You are good, Lord, and you shower us with good things: blessings upon blessings. Your faithful love is the foundation of our joy, and we praise you that your love for us goes on and on and on. We will shout your praise with joy. We will worship you with hearts that are glad. We will sing with joy for your salvation and love. In Jesus' name, amen.
