Psalm 104

Psalm 104 echoes the refrain of Psalm 103: "Bless the LORD, O my soul!" Psalm 103 celebrates the benefits of the Lord's forgiveness and love. Psalm 104 celebrates the God's creation of the heavens and the earth (v. 2-9), and his provisions of water (v. 10-13), food (v. 14-15), shelter (v. 16-18), sun and moon, day and night, labor and rest (v. 19-23).

Lord, your provision is amazing. You make springs gush forth in the valleys, so wild donkeys might quench their thirst (v. 11). You cause the grass to grow to feed the cattle (v. 14). You cause the plants to grow that mankind uses for crops, wine, oil, and bread (v. 14-15). You plant forests so that birds might have a place to perch, and to build their nests (v. 16-17). You provide the lions their food and their rest (v. 21-22). You also provide mankind fruitful labor and rest (v. 23).

Lord, this world you've made to be our home is such a gift. This life you've given us is such a gift. We pray, grant our complaints to fade as we contemplate your blessings. Grant our worries to fade as we consider your provisions. You are the God who takes care of donkeys, cattle, birds, storks, goats, rock badgers, and lions. Surely, you will take care of us too. Let us rest in your care and delight in your love. In Jesus' name, amen.
