Psalm 145

"One generation shall commend your works to another, and shall declare your mighty acts. On the glorious splendor of your majesty, and on your wondrous works, I will meditate. They shall speak of the might of your awesome deeds, and I will declare your greatness. They shall pour forth the fame of your abundant goodness and shall sing aloud of your righteousness.

The Lord is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. The Lord is good to all, and his mercy is over all that he has made."

Father God, we praise you. You are the King over all creation. You are our Savior and our God. Today we pray that Psalm 145 will be true of us...that our generations shall proclaim your works to each other. We pray that older generations will share their wisdom with younger generations, and even that younger generations will share their faith with older generations, so that all Christians will be mutually encouraged in our faith, and that those who don't yet know you will hear of your goodness and be drawn into your love.

Let us declare your amazing forgiveness, and how you've forgiven our sins, even at great personal cost. Let us declare the freedom from guilt we've found in you. Let us declare the joy of our hope, the richness of our peace, and the wonder of your love. Every blessing we cherish, and every good thing we have and take for granted, it all comes from you. You are the Father of the heavenly lights and every good and perfect gift comes from you (James 1:17).

Father, give us courage to share all this with those around us, with Christians and other-than-Christian people alike. As we praise you before others, we will only find our own joy in you increasing. For it is a blessing to have faith, but it is even more blessed to share our faith with others. We pray: grant that the whole world might bow their knees before you and declare that you are God. We long for this day of worldwide worship. Help us to speed the coming of this day, by sharing our faith, that the full number will believe and be saved. In Jesus' name, amen.
